Getting the communication you want

Hello folks,image

I was in Toronto this week and I meet with some IT pros.  At one point one of them asked me “Why do I keep getting the US flash and not the Canadian one?”. So we started to look into it. I knew it was somehow related to their Microsoft Account Profile info.

It’s really important for you to have up to date profile information so that the “right” information reaches you. The Canadian TechNet Flash, the Security Newsletter for IT Pro, ect…

the list of communication changes all the time. it’s important to check it out once in a while.  for example, here is the list of the subscription I currently have:

  • Exploring Windows Newsletter
  • Exploring Windows
  • Local News (where available)
  • Microsoft in Government (US)
  • MCP News Flash
  • TechNet Flash (US, XX)
  • TechNet Flash (CA-EN)
  • Security Newsletter for IT Pros
  • Microsoft Download Notifications (US)
  • Springboard Series Insider
  • Windows Phone news (en-CA)
  • Canadian Student Newsletter (en-CA)
  • Windows Enterprise Executive Insights
  • Windows Azure Newsletter
  • ITPRO And Developers Newsletter
  • Office 365 IT Pro Newsletter
  • Journey To the Cloud Newsletter VN
  • Journey To the Cloud Newsletter TH
  • Windows Azure Newsletter
  • TN Windows Server 2012 R2 Preview
  • System Center 2012 R2 Preview

So in Steve’s case, we pulled out a laptop and started looking at our Microsoft Account profiles to see if we could adjust the parameters. We found the right place to modify our profiles at https://profile.microsoft.com/RegSysProfileCenter .  it is the location where you can update the following information.

  • Add or update your name
  • e-mail address
  • mailing addresses
  • phone and fax numbers.

You can also easily update your marketing contact preferences for Microsoft and our trusted partners. Microsoft offers subscriptions to e-newsletters on a wide range of topics including security bulletins, products and services, discipline-specific, and educational content.  And…  pick the right TechNet Flash you want to receive.  As you can see below, we configured Steve’s profile to receive both the Canadian and the American TechNet Flash Newsletters.  he doesn't want to miss anything.  and neither should you.

At the very least you should verify that your contact info is up to date.  You may be missing out on some of our promotions and contests.

And please remember. If you would like us to explore any scenarios that you are currently researching. Please, let us know.  we’d love to continue the conversation with you.  leave a comment. We’ll get back to you.

Cheers!
