December 21, 2012 – The End of the World?

Depending which camp you sit in, you may, or may not believe Friday, December 21, 2012 will be the end of the world.

Being the eternal optimist that I am, I side with those who think that things will keep on the same as they did, that I’ll continue to eat too many Christmas cookies over the holidays and that I’ll be making resolutions about the gym and exercise in January.

Before I get too far ahead of myself though, I wanted to let everyone know about a pretty quick and painless way to try Windows Server 2012 right now on Windows Azure.  For those of you that think the world is ending, this is probably the best news you’ve heard in a while!

In all seriousness, being an IT Professional means that you’re probably not taking as much time off as you’d like over the holidays.  Instead you’re keeping an eye on things, maybe even trying out something new.  If you’re going to try out anything over the holidays, this should be it.  Think of it as an investment in yourself.  There are a lot of things you can do with Windows Server 2012 on Windows Azure that will help make your work a bit easier, like:

  • Create and manage Windows Server 2012 Virtual Machines
  • Manage a Windows Server 2012 Virtual Machine on Windows Azure
  • Connect your new Virtual Machines to your existing data center using a virtual private network
  • Customize virtual hard disks running Windows Server 2012 and quickly deploy them on Windows Azure

I know, I know you have a lot going on right now and if you’re like me, you’ve barely touched your Christmas shopping list.  But when’s the last time you did something for yourself?  This is the gift that will keep on giving throughout the year.  Sometimes it’s okay to be a little selfish, even if it is around the holidays.

Happy Holidays!
