New Shared Computer Toolkit update for Windows XP

Besides working with IT Pros while on tour – I’ve also made it a priority to connect with schools and schoolboards.  My son started Jr. Kindergarten this year and my twin girls are close behind.  I took the opportunity to “adopt” their classroom to make their hand me down computers more stable.  I talked with the principal and toured their more powerful computer lab that is shared with the whole school.  It brought to light one of the challenges schools and schoolboards face – shared computers and their security / integrity for the next user of the system.

A while back, Microsoft collaborated with the community and their requirements to create a solution called the “Shared Computer Toolkit for Windows XP” 1.0. It was a free download to Genuine Windows XP customers and you are free to use it in your own home for YOUR shared access computer if you like.

In case you missed it – version 1.1 was released earlier this month and their website has been updated with new content, white papers and even a demo of how the technology works. Check out the updated website… https://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/sharedaccess/default.mspx

If you or your organization needs to “freeze” a machine and bring it back to the same state quickly – this toolkit is for you!
