Office 365 Becomes First and Only Major Cloud Productivity Service to Comply With HIPAA Requirements

As announced last week at the Office 365 Trust Center, Office 365 has now met all the standards necessary to meet the US mandated Heath Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) that health organizations need to comply with for data security and privacy.  This new HIPPA certification comes in the wake of the ISO 27001 security benchmark that Office 365 also attained recently.  It is important to note that Office 365 is the first major business productivity public cloud service to have implemented the rigorous set of physical, logical, process and management controls defined by ISO 27001.  With security being the most common objection that businesses raise when evaluating cloud solutions, Microsoft’s relentless focus on security is setting Office 365 apart from the rest.

More details on this announcement cam be found at the Microsoft Presspass site and the Office 365 Trust Center.
