Part 1 of 6 - Windows XP End of Life Series - Blain Barton

As you may or may not know, on April 8th, 2014 when Windows XP and Office 2003 reach End of Support (EOS), Microsoft will NO longer provide:

•New security updates

•Non-security hotfixes

•Incident support -Free or paid assisted support

•Option to engage Microsoft product development resources

•Updates to online content, such as Knowledge Base articles

There is no extension planned. Customers will need to migrate their PC fleet prior to EOS date to avoid the significant risk of running unsupported software. Post EOS date, there are only two options available to you the customer –

•Migrate to supported product

•Enroll in Custom Support program - Custom Support agreements are only available to Premier Customers. The pricing strategy for the custom support program is still getting worked out. If the customer is a Premier customer, they can work with me to define the best option for them.

Here is a link to tour customer facing website that provides a bit more information: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/endofsupport.aspx

However, we are going to provide the explanation as to why such a great operating system is going to be ended…stay tuned
