Today’s Featured BizSpark Startup is Nube Medica from Guatemala
Founded in 2013, MediCloud.me was launched with the goal of helping doctors run more profitable and productive medical practices.
Microsoft BizSpark startup Nube Medica offers a Software as a Service solution on Azure that is free for doctors and clinics throughout Latin America. Medical professionals in 15 countries now use the solution, called MediCloud.me.
“MediCloud.me controls patient appointments, electronic health records, administrative procedures and financial management items,” explains Maynor Gamarro, co-founder and CTO of Nube Medica. “It has generated great tractions in the medical profession.”
Launched in Guatemala, MediCloud.me uses a variety of open source technologies on the Azure.
“We use mostly open source technologies,” says Gamarro. “For example, we use Bootstrap and ASP.NET for our front-end web framework, HTML5 for web development, CSS3 for web document style sheets and jQuery for the site’s library needs.”
Gamarro is passionate about Microsoft Azure. He’s used another cloud platform and says it just wasn’t working as needed. The move to Azure, however, made business much easier due to the support and partnership with Microsoft.
“We started hosting our solution on the Amazon Web Services Cloud infrastructure,” he says. “However, when we needed assistance it was very difficult to resolve some issues we found. When we started working and partnering with Microsoft the story was totally different!
“We were able to discuss and get feedback from the local team to overcome some of the technical and architectural challenges we were facing. Microsoft has been working along with us to design a world class solution that will support the growth and multi-country expansion we are experiencing in our solution. Our growth wouldn't be possible without Microsoft Azure.”
Keep an eye on Nube Medica. Given the startup’s explosive growth, it could be coming to your country soon!
