Featured BizSpark Startup on Azure - BugAid Software

Interview with Omer Raviv, Co-founder of BugAid Software.

Tell us who you are and your role in the company:
I'm the co-founder, programmer, marketing person, and all-around do-it-yourself guy.

What is your company’s mission?
Our mission is to revolutionize the debugging experience in Visual Studio, allowing developers to track down and fix bugs much faster, so that they can spend less time scratching their heads and more time on writing quality code.

In 140 characters or less, tell us what your company does:
We create a Visual Studio extension that lets C# programmers easily visualize, search, filter, compare and save debugging data.

Tell us about your Azure based solution:
We use the Azure platform for our payment processor.  The service we run on top of Azure is responsible for processing sales and sending licenses to our customers.  Writing our own hand-woven payment processing procedure has allowed us to customize it to fit our exact needs. But more importantly, it saves us a lot of money over the alternative of using a 3rd party payment processor, which would've charged us up to 9% of our sales.

How is Azure implemented in your solution?
Our payment processor runs as a service on top of Azure that monitors PayPal sales, and responds to them by sending our clients license information via email.

What were the Azure features that prompted you to decide to build on Azure
Since we utilize Azure to process sales, the #1 feature we care about is high availability. So far, Azure hasn't disappointed us in that regard.

What advice do you have for companies that are thinking about building in the cloud?
Don't let the initial few hours of setup and learning keep you from getting on the bandwagon. It's worth it.

What is the one thing that you would like readers to take away about your Azure app?
We are trying to create a tool that will revolutionize the Visual Studio debugging experience the same way the multitudes of Refactoring Tools transform their coding experience. If you're a C# programmer, our beta version is available for download today. Please check our site at www.bugaidsoftware.com and let us know what you think!
