The BizSpark startup of the day is Solu Digital, based in Finland. Below you will find an interview with Henry Scheinin, CEO of Solu Digital. All the best to them and congratulations for being the startup of the day!
Tell us who you are and your role in the company:
I am a SharePoint consultant and CEO of Solu Digital.
What did you do before creating your company?
I was a senior consultant.
How do you feel being the most promising ‘Startup of the Day’ per Microsoft BizSpark?
We all feel honored and excited! We are developing productized solutions for information resource planning and on basis of first customer contacts this is something what top management in customer organizations have been waiting for.
What is your company’s mission?
Solu implements solutions that provide information to our customers at the right time and in the right form.
In 140 characters or less, tell us what your company does:
Solu provides solutions for performance management and business improvement with Microsoft technology (SharePoint, SQL Server, .NET).
How did you get the idea for your company?
Our staff is a blend of IT professionals and business management professionals. In couple of meetings we soon found out that there’s a huge gap between IT and business that needed fulfillment. The technology is available, there are existing management models and there’s a business opportunity, so it was all about making the decision and taking the first steps!
Tell us about your funding history. Are you currently looking for funding? If so, how much?
The business is currently run without external funding. But as our plan is to grow aggressively, we are currently looking into all funding alternatives.
How many employees do you have? How many developers?
We are currently five people, half of us are developers as I am the half-developer myself.
Are you hiring? If yes, what are you hiring for and where?
We are looking for Senior Developers and Architects.
Which platform are you building on? Why?
SharePoint, because it’s like cable TV – can’t live without one.
Where do you see opportunities today in the Software/Internet area?
In integrated mobile business solutions.
What do you think about the BizSpark Program?
It’s a great opportunity for start ups to network and benefit from the partnership.
Do you have any advice for young Software entrepreneurs?
Elaborate the basics but think of the stars.
Who’s your role model?
What’s the ONE THING you would like readers to take away from this interview?
Start from the business needs and the rest will follow.
