Tell us who you are and your role in the company:

I am the Founder & CEO, main Architect & Developer, and I also do a lot of support, marketing and sales.

What did you do before creating your company?

I was primarily a Software Architect, specializing in various Microsoft technologies.

How do you feel being the most promising ‘Startup of the Day’ per Microsoft BizSpark?

It is a great honor! BizSpark is an amazing program and we are thankful for being a part of it and are thrilled to be chosen as a Startup of the Day.

What is your company’s mission?

We have our heads in the clouds! We focus on providing great tools and services centered on cloud computing, particularly around Windows Azure. Our flagship product AzureWatch provides Elasticity-as-a-Service for applications running in Windows Azure.

How did you get the idea for your company?

I would like to say that it was really a no brainer. Cloud-computing is the next revolution in computing industry happening right in front of our eyes. As during any new major industry shift, there are plenty of opportunities to help with the inevitable adoption of it. With that realization out of the way, we focused on one of the most frequently requested features for Windows Azure – dynamic scaling which delivers on the core promise of cloud computing: elasticity of compute resources.

Tell us about your funding history. Are you currently looking for funding? If so, how much?

We have been completely bootstrapped since the very beginning. While we are open to learning about funding opportunities, we are not actively seeking funding.

How many employees do you have? How many developers?

There are two people behind Paraleap Technologies, both developers.

Are you hiring? If yes, what are you hiring for and where?

We would definitely be interested in speaking with business development folks in Chicago area.

Which platform are you building on?Why?

Not only is our product built for apps running in Windows Azure, but it is also running on top of Windows Azure itself. We use most of the latest Microsoft development tools and frameworks. The technology list behind our product reads like a good MSDN article.

Where do you see opportunities today in the Software/Internet area?

Current startup landscape is ripe with opportunities. Two big areas are definitely cloud computing and mobile computing. There are plenty of opportunities to help drive the adoption of these technologies and their integration among each other.

What do you think about the BizSpark Program?

Love it! Simply love it! I am very thankful to be a part of it. It allowed us free access to tools that we needed to build our core product. It allowed us to get valuable free Windows Azure resources while we were in development and beta.

Do you have any advice for young Software entrepreneurs?

Don’t give up and be flexible! There are more challenges to creating a company than one can imagine; being persistent and flexible are two major ingredients of a successful entrepreneur.

Who’s your role model?

I know it may sound cliché, but Bill Gates. Ever since I was a teenager back I the 1980s I have been both impressed and awed by what Gates was able to achieve.

What’s the ONE THING you would like readers to take away from this interview?

There are clouds on the horizon and they are here to stay. Learn how to scale them!
