What did you do before creating your company?

Co-Founder and CEO of PicScout.

How do you feel being the most promising ‘Startup of the Day’ per Microsoft BizSpark?

We are honored to be the BizSpark “Startup of the Day”. It's a special time for all of us in the picapp team as we just launched our new product and see much market traction. Everyone is very excited here!

What is your company’s mission?

To place a play button on every image online and revolutionize the way people interact with images in the touch screen era.

Make images play.

How did you get the idea for your company?

It all started while we were syndicating professional content to bloggers. We noticed how end users interact with images and how much engagement can be extracted from images online. The pain point was\is that currently interacting with images leads to bad user experience ( i.e. dead end pages, static ) and we wanted to solve this issue and unleash the power of images.

Tell us about your funding history. Are you currently looking for funding? If so, how much?

The company is backed by Carmel Venture and known Angel Investors such as Lenny Recanati and Yair Goldfinger. We are about to start our B round soon. Obviously , we will look for investors that are well connected and familiar with online media.

How many employees do you have? How many developers?

13 employees in San Francisco and in Kibutz Glil Yam Israel.

Are you hiring?If yes, what are you hiring for and where?

We just filled in 2 new business development and 2 engineering positions, to support our recent growth.

Which platform are you building on?Why?

We use the Microsoft tools and various open source tools as well – all were picked to enable scale.

Where do you see opportunities today in the Software/Internet area?

Content delivery, storage, rich media advertising.

What do you think about the BizSpark Program?

The BizSpark program has been great for us as a start up and enabled us to get great tools in an affordable price.

Do you have any advice for young Software entrepreneurs?

I will try quote the founder of LinkedIn : “If you are 100% satisfied with your product , it means you are late to market “.

Who’s your role model?

The many people I meet and learn from every day.

What’s the ONE THING you would like readers to take away from this interview?

Images are the “new link”.
