Tell us who you are and your role in the company:

I'm the Founder and CTO of BuzzNumbers. I created the initial BuzzNumbers software and continue to oversee the development of the product in addition to driving the growth of the company.

What did you do before creating your company?

Prior to starting BuzzNumbers, I worked for a number of highly successful Technology and Media start-ups including BetFair.com, Euromoney.com, IMG TWI and iTrainer.com. I also have experience with corporate commercial companies including Microsoft, Unilever and INGDirect.

How do you feel being the most promising ‘Startup of the Day’ per Microsoft BizSpark?

I'm excited that BuzzNumbers is being recognised as a promising Startup.

What is your company’s mission?

Our mission is to enable companies to track online social media, news, blogs, forums & video within a software that provides powerful analytics and reporting capabilities.

In 140 characters or less, tell us what your company does:

BuzzNumbers enables companies to track online social media, news, blogs, forums & video within a software that provides powerful analytics and reporting capabilities.

How did you get the idea for your company?

I was working in Business Intelligence software and saw that there could be a demand for understanding metrics and information from online conversations and how these correspond with other business metrics. This was almost three years ago, so when I mentioned it to my then-employer they didn’t see potential in it. I soon after left that company and created BuzzNumbers.

Tell us about your funding history. Are you currently looking for funding? If so, how much?

We are currently privately funded, we would explore international funding options from strategic investors, but we are profitable and aren’t really looking for bankers without deep industry expertise.

How many employees do you have? How many developers?

8 employees, 3 developers.

Are you hiring? If yes, what are you hiring for and where?

We're always looking for exceptional people who could be great additions to the BuzzNumbers Team.

Which platform are you building on?Why?

We use Microsoft .NET technologies, C# .NET 4.0, SQL Server, Windows Azure, ASP.NET MVC & WebForms.

Where do you see opportunities today in the Software/Internet area?

Building large cloud hosted databases and cross referencing them with API's from across the web is offering software developers the ability to quickly build exciting new offering without having to worry about infrastructure investment. We can look at spending more time fixing problems and making great software that people want and spend less and less time on servers and data scaling.

What do you think about the BizSpark Program?

Fantastic.

Do you have any advice for young Software entrepreneurs?

Understand your addressable market & customer purchasing lifecycle. Be sure to ship a minimum useable feature set as quickly as possible and give it away for as much market feedback as possible - then iterate rapidly. Don't worry too much about protecting your idea, execution is more important than ideas.

Who’s your role model?

Paul Graham.

What’s the ONE THING you would like readers to take away from this interview?
