Tell us who you are and your role in the company:

Ming Yong is Founder and CEO of Socialwok (https://socialwok.com), one of the most popular business social productivity service on the web for group collaboration and enterprise microblogging. Ming previously founded Druid, a popular open source project on Unified Communications for small medium businesses.

What did you do before creating your company?

How do you feel being the most promising ‘Startup of the Day’ per Microsoft BizSpark?

It's been quite the journey for the whole Socialwok team of Vikram Rangnekar, Navin Kumar and myself. It's a great feeling of accomplishment to see the service we created used by tens of thousands of businesses.

What is your company’s mission?

My company Socialwok (https://socialwok.com/tour) is a business social networking service that helps tens of thousands of businesses daily to share ideas, files through Google Apps (Google Docs, Google Calendar, Gmail, Google Spreadsheets) and the Outlook Social Connector

How did you get the idea for your company?

We are big fans of Facebook and how friends kept in contact using passive sharing. Personally, I was sending out over 20 emails each to my co-workers. There had to be better ways.

How many employees do you have? How many developers?

3 co-founders of which 2 are developers

Are you hiring? If yes, what are you hiring and where?

Yes. Developers in Singapore (Java, .Net) with experience in web technologies.

Which platform are you building on? Why?

Google AppEngine, .Net (Socialwok Outlook Social Connector), Silverlight (Desktop).

Where do you see opportunities today in the Software/internet area?

Cloud, software as a service & social.

What do you think about the BizSpark Program?

Been very helpful in providing access to development tools like Visual Studio .NET.

Do you have any advice for young Software entrepreneurs?

Keep trying and persevere.
