Tell us who you are and your role in the company.

CEO.

What did you do before creating your company?

VP Sales & Marketing in SCADA software editor (20 years of experience in Building Management, Utilities and Manufacturing).

How do you feel being the most promising ‘Startup of the Day’ per Microsoft BizSpark?

We are honored to have this high level of recognition from Microsoft.

What is your company’s mission?

Reducing Buildings and Plants’s energy consumption and carbon footprint.

In 140 characters or less, tell us what your company does:

Vertelis develops and sales “Server IT” software to monitor, analyse and help to reduce up to 30% energy consumption. Business Intelligence for less carbon footprint.

How did you get the idea for your company?

Getting to level “understand” from the level “see” what’s process plants behavior to optimize their operation and their energy consumption. Buildings and Industrial Manufacturing account for 70% of energy consumption, and 40%, of greenhouse-gas emissions. Reducing the carbon footprint in these areas is critical to improving our environment.

Tell us about your funding history. Are you currently looking for funding? If so, how much?

Vertelis has in his capital structure one of the most important innovation Capital fund in France, OTC Asset Management, and is advised in his board of administrators by the former CEOs of Framatome, Gemplus and Nec Europe. Vertelis has raised 3,7 M€ in august 2008 and with emerging green energy market, is interesting of making another fund demand.

20 employees and 13 developers.

Are you hiring? If yes, what are you hiring and where?

No.

Which platform are you building on? Why?

We build on Microsoft Windows & SQL Server 2008. This platform is getting the performance, the agility and the cost effective we think the best for our market.

Where do you see opportunities today in the Software/internet area?

Buildings and homes smart energy consumption.

What do you think about the BizSpark Program?

A real boost to get faster and easier on Microsoft technologies. A providential help to minimize the R&D investment for startups without money yet !

Do you have any advice for young Software entrepreneurs?

No.
