Interview with Anshul Jain, Founder of ThoughtBuzz

Who are you?

I am Anshul Jain, Founder of ThoughtBuzz. We are a social media intelligence company.

What did you do before creating your company?

I was working as a consultant with Oracle Financial Services Software Ltd.

How did you get the idea? What s the genesis?

Being an avid user of social media and its growing importance for companies, we realized that there is a huge opportunity to provide social media monitoring services for companies.

What do you sell? What is your company’s mission?

We have built our own software from ground up which helps companies track social media and monitor who is talking about their brand and what. Our model is a subscription based model.

What is your market?

Our market is basically any company which would want to know who is talking about their product or service in social media.

Any clients? References? Partners?

Would just like to say that we have companies which are already testing the product.

Funding history? VCs? BA?

VC funded and SPRING Singapore YES! Startups Grant.

Growth? Internationalization?

Not at this point of time.

How many employees do you have? How many developers?

Currently we have 3 full time and 2 part time employees. We have 2 full time developers.

Are you hiring? If yes, what? Where?

As of now we are not actively looking for anyone but if the right candidate comes along, we wouldn't mind.

Which platform are you building on? Why?

We are mostly using open source for our development. Gives us a lot of flexibility and costs nothing.

Do you have any Software IP? Is there something that you’re the only one to do on the market?

Yes, our analysis engine is our IP.

Who’s your role model?

Bill Gates.

Where do you see opportunities today in the Software/internet areas?

Subscription based services are definitely hot. People don't want to use bulky software on their desktops.

Looking for funding? If yes, how much?

No.

What about the BizSpark Program? What do you think? Are you going to join? Why?

The BizSpark program is very good as it provides startups a platform to build awareness and free software.

Any advice to young Software entrepreneurs?

Its never too late to start. Use common sense and evaluate if your idea can generate money. If yes then just do it.
