Czy można korzystać z wersji Windows Server 2008R2 Standard, zamiast zakupionej licencji Windows Server 2008R2 Enterprise

Zapewne większość administratorów wie o prawie do używania poprzedniej wersji dostępnej w większości programów licencyjnych. Ale czy mogę zamiast wersji Enterprise zainstalować wersję Standard?

Co mówi na ten temat umowa licencyjna. Otóż w umowie licencyjnej Windows Server 2008R2 Enterprise OEM mamy zapis:

b. Running Instances of the Server Software.
i. You may run on the licensed server, at any one time
· one instance of the server software in one physical operating system environment, and
· up to four instances of the server software in virtual operating system environments (only one instance per virtual operating system environment). You may run an instance of Standard in place of Enterprise in any of the physical and virtual operating system environments. This agreement applies to your use of Standard in this manner. Neither the manufacturer or installer, nor Microsoft is obligated to supply other editions to you.

Czyli zamiast wersji Enterprise mogę zainstalować wersję Standard. Z kolei zamiast wersji Datacenter mozna uzywać wersję Enterprise lub Standard, zgodnie z zapisem umowy, przytoczonym poniżej.

You may run an instance of Standard or Enterprise in place of Datacenter in physical and virtual operating system environments. This agreement applies to your use of Standard or Enterprise in this manner.
