Remote desktop publishing on UAG fails to work on Windows 7 clients following an update in November 2012

With the release of Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012, the protocol used for Remote Desktop has received a major facelift to version 8, which adds a slew of new features. In November 2012, Microsoft released an update to Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 which enables support for these operating systems for the new Remote Desktop protocol.

Users who have installed this update (KB2592687) may have discovered that UAG is not compatible with RDP 8.0, and therefore, Remote desktop applications published on a UAG server will no longer work for these users.

The UAG product team is aware of this, and are working to address it. This is expected to be included in a future Service Pack for UAG, though at this time, an ETA for this SP is not available. For customers who installed this update, we suggest removing it to regain the use of Remote Desktop applications published on UAG.
