Office v16.4 OPK released

Microsoft has released Office version 16.4 OEM Pre-installation Kit (OPK) on DPC. This OPK complements the planned availability of the Office desktop applications in the Windows Store. Also, some end user out-of-box experience workflows that were previously handled in Office client will now be handled by the Windows Store.   

The 16.4 OPK uses the Windows Desktop Bridge to allow Office to be managed and updated through the Windows Store. In addition, some end user out-of-box experience (OOBE) workflows that were previously handled by the Office client will now be handled by the Windows Store. The Office version 16.4 OPK includes the following updates and enhancements:

  • Manufacturing enhancements for offline installation through DISM and automatic language management by Windows through Windows Store.
  • Office applications can update before first run during installation process, like any other Windows Store application.
  • Streamlined OOBE redemption flow for trial and pre-purchase and new capabilities for renewal and purchase through Windows Store.
