Ignite Sessions For OEM and System Builder Partners - Nano Server

During the just completed OEM Windows Server 2012 R2 Roadshow I mentioned several ways of keeping up with different products and technologies, and that I would create a few posts that cover these in more detail. This is the next post in that series, and it is focused on the sessions that were delivered at the Ignite event (the successor to TechEd and several other events) in Chicago. Nano Server is the today's focus area that I'll cover.

Nano Server: The Future of Windows Server Starts Now

Hear about important transformations in Windows Server – the new installation option called Nano Server. Nano Server is a deep rethink of the server architecture. The result is a new, lean cloud fabric host and application development platform, resulting in 20x smaller than Server Core and a reduction in security attack service surface and reboots!

Remotely Managing Nano Server

As Windows Server transitions into the world of DevOps, we introduce Nano Server, the new headless Windows Server installation option for the CloudOS and born-in-the-cloud applications. In this session, we describe how to leverage the Windows Management Framework, including PowerShell scripting and Desired State Configuration, to manage Nano Server remotely, eliminating the need to ever sit in front of a server. While this talk is focused on Nano Server, the management concepts and PowerShell cmdlets demonstrated are equally applicable to any Windows Server installation.
