MDOP 2011, including App-V 4.6 SP1, is now available!

newToday we announced the general availability of MDOP 2011, which includes among other things the long awaited App-V 4.6 SP1!  So what’s new in this release?  Well here are couple bullets announced by Gavriella Schuster over on the Windows for your Business blog:

– Package Accelerators are a new capability with App-V, which I think is the most exciting aspect of this news. The Package Accelerators give IT pros and ISVs a way to covert traditional applications directly into App-V. Basically, it speeds up application packaging and App-V deployment, making the move to Windows 7 all the more easier.

– In April, we’ll provide Package Accelerators for Project, Adobe Reader and Office 2010

– We’re also updating our licensing for App-V, starting April 1st, so hosters can deliver Microsoft Dynamics from the cloud using App-V (this will be part of our App-V Service Provider Licensing Agreement).

For all the details see the release on the MDOP blog here.

Nice to here. Why are the AppV Client patches, SR, SP, … now not availaible in WSUS? Only version 4.5 is supported in WSUS.

How can I easily delploy the 4.6 SP1 client to my 200 machines?

    Thanks in advance.

Where can I find App-V for the Desktop Client? I am unable to find it on the Licensing website, only the MDOP 2007, and although I have downloaded App-V 4.5 CUL1 and have it successfully installed on my server, I am not able to find the Desktop Client. Thank you.
