How to recreate the configuration database in Sharepoint 2003

Finally I had some bandwith to publish a document which I’ve written a while ago about recreating the Sharepoint configuration database. Recreating the configuration database basically means “Go back to the situation that I had just after installing Sharepoint for the first time”. We’ll that is actually not completely true as we will not touch the websites in IIS and nor do we reinstall the Sharepoint files.

In support we have seen so many issues caused by corruptions, misconfiguration, customer errors and misunderstandings, which ultimately were resolved by recreating a new configuration database. That was the main reason for putting this in a doc. If you have any comments, suggestions or improvements, please let me know.
