CM TechDay Additional Content

Hi All,

This post is meant as a reference to additional content for those that attended our TechDay on System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager last week.  That said, the resources below may be generally useful for anyone working on Configuration Manager.

First up we have Ricky Simpson's network bandwidth testing sessions script references:

Next we've got the T-SQL queries from my session on reporting and querying the Configuration Manager database:

Finally, we've got Luke providing us with more information on RBA:

Please find a selection of resources introducing you to Role Based Administration in System Center 2012 Configuration Manager. I recommend watching the TechNet Video - Role Based Administration Overview then reading through Role-Based Administration in System Center 2012 Configuration Manager.

During the planning stages for your Role Based Administration implementation, I recommend that you review the Matrix of Role-Based Administration Permissions for ConfigMgr 2012 as produced by Brent Dunsire for a full list of built in Security Roles and their permissions. Create your own tabs in this Excel Spreadsheet to start defining which teams in your organisation will need access to what objects.

Finally, use the RBAViewer tool as provided in the System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager Toolkit. This will allow you to see the rights and permissions for a role and what is displayed in the console.

We hope you all enjoyed our Tech Day and found it valuable.  We look forward to hosting you for another TechDay in the future.

Regards,
Saud & the System Center team.
