@Karl_Wester-Ebbinghaus I don't have plans for this currently but if a
customer files a DCR with business justification that meets the bat of
the sustained engineering team it would be done. I don't think it would,
as this firewall change is mainly just to prevent a home user from
opening ports. IT ...
Aye! another side-quest if I may, does MSFT plan a LCU and timeline to
"patch" the Defender Firewall rules, as proposed for WS2025, to disable
NetBT for previous OS versions like WS 2022 (2019 is out of maint.
support so rather a no-no).
@Karl_Wester-Ebbinghaus see the other links I provided, all of this is
documented for WS2025 Insiders and will be part of GA. This article was
for consumers just so they'd have an easy way to understand the
situation. Rather than hacking away at C$ and IPC$, just disable the SMB
server or don't open...
@Karl_Wester-Ebbinghaus whatever OSes the Entra folks support for this
passwordless thingy, which appears to be WS2016 and later. But you can't
deploy a WS2019 or later OS running FRS, so really... just WS2016.
Windows Server version 1709 no longer supports FRS - Windows Server |
