Problems with Contributors Viewing Test Plans

Today I was working with Visual Studio Online for a customer and came across an interesting issue. They are using a multiple team strategy so I have created several Areas and security groups with the default contributor permissions. Everything worked fined until our testers went in to Test Manager or the Test on VSO Web Access. They could not see any existing test plans.

 

After consulting with the test team I found out that you need to have specific permissions set at the Area Path level and Project level.

 Once we made the changes everything worked like a charm
